I am a data line repair technician for a large telecommunications company. Started my business career as a military satcom tech. Dull work, hate doing it, but it does put food on the table. The only nice thing about the job is it's monotonous enough and the repairs are predictable enough that I can do the job on autopilot, research anything I take a fancy to on the internet, and still outperform most of the people in my department by almost 2 to 1. There's only two guys that work more issues than I do. One is paranoid about losing his job and looks like a poster child for a cardiologist convention. The other half-asses things, works his stats rather than his problems, and makes circuit repairs only by accident. The only reason I don't go find something else is it pays well and the work is easy. I can put up with dull, makes my home life look exiting.

Default What I do....

I specify and procure manufacturing lines for making airbags for automobiles and I have a patent for a type of fastener used on side curtain airbags. I build and fight combat robots and I am building a hybrid RC mower. I have an '88 5.0 Mustang that will be the donor for my EV. It has a GVW of 4200 lbs, great aftermarket support, and is built with the same running gear that Ford put under that generation Lincoln. My long range gasoline car is a Mazdaspeed 3.

Half of what I do is TRAVEL. I am sitting in a motel room right now, LOL.
Stephen

You have no idea how much I'd like to be able to write that on my CV.

I take out the garbage, dry the dishes, and tinker with my Zenn EV. I'm retired - and loving it!

I'm a systems admin for a medium sized government agency. I sit around doing whatever I want online waiting for things to break. Once in a great while everything breaks in a massive way and I get to work on something fun.

Mostly I fix things before they break and nobody knows what I actually do.
