Lightbulb school project suggestions

what would be the best things to do and buy for a school shop class. i was thinking about talking to the school and getting a ev class going. we already do a super gas milage thing and this year we had 2 classes of that and maybe next year one could be electric.

i need a price range of the electical cost of the controllor and moter and baterys and charging stuff. and i we proably be the one teaching if you no what i mean.

so far i have came up with a $1600 cart and thats without batterys. what would you suggest. i would like it to be nice and pretty fast. or the class will lose a some interest. not slow and slugish. i really want lithium but i would need to get sponser for that.
